Caroline Collins, the beloved KSEE 24 morning anchor with over 1.5 million social media followers, is leaving Fresno.
Collins, known for her engaging on-air personality and creative social media presence, took an amusing but also unorthodox approach to sharing what life was like as a TV anchor inside and outside the studio.
She released video clips of herself performing goofy TikTok dances, offering behind-the-scenes footage in the studio when the TV cameras were no longer filming, and what it’s like to get ready for morning newscasts that start at 5 a.m.
Collins announced her resignation on Monday night, stating that her last day on the air will be Nov. 30.
“I can’t thank the Central Valley enough for welcoming me into the community with open arms and your homes each morning,” Collins wrote on social media. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve as KSEE 24 Sunrise and Midday Anchor!”
“The people I’ve met, the stories I’ve told, the exciting live shots I’ve done have made this experience an incredible one!”
While it’s unknown how many followers Collins gained during her almost three-year time in Fresno, she certainly had the strongest social media following of any on-air Fresno personality. Collins’ TikTok page alone has 1.1 million followers and 25.8 million likes.
With all of the attention, some have questioned if Collins was making too much of the news about herself and not enough about the stories being told, as has been the traditional method.
Collins’s approach to the news, however, may be considered a huge plus to a media source in today’s world of journalism, which analyzes online page views, television viewership, and increasing following on multiple social media platforms.
“In this fast-paced world of digital platforms and on-air broadcasting, Caroline’s strong journalistic skills and ability to reach and serve our viewers on whatever platforms they consume news and information will be an asset to our audience,” Houston FOX 26’s Susan Schiller, station vice president, and news director, said to TVNewsCheck.com.
Collins appeared to make an impression during her stay in Fresno, which started in December 2020.
