Nicole Kidman has cemented her place as a couture fashion legend in an unexpected new cover shoot. Nicole Kidman is fresh from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, where she not only owned the catwalk but also street style.
Kidman, 55, flaunted her toned abs and biceps while posing for the front cover of the most recent issue of Perfect magazine.
On the edgy cover shoot, the actor took a “strong man pose,” yet she was every bit the inspirational picture of a super strong woman.
The actress was honored with the magazine’s Perfect Icon award in its most recent issue, and the mother-of-four defied her age of 55 as she stood confidently with her muscular legs astride and arms flexed.
Diesel’s intarsia halter-neck top and padding wraparound skirt (styled by Robbie Spence) are featured in the sci-fi-inspired ensemble, which I can only equate to Leeloo from The Fifth Element (played by Milla Jovovich).
The Australian/American actor’s hair is fashioned in a vivid copper color with a blunt cut at the front, a drastic change from her usually blonde locks. The rest of the actor’s hair flows over her (very chiseled) shoulders.
For the third issue of Perfect magazine, which honors the biggest icons of pop culture, Malaysian-Chinese photographer Zhong Lin created a series of high-fashion avant-garde photos, including the cover image. Along with the photo session, Jason Campbell conducted an interview.
As per Dailymail, the magazine launched the annual awards this year in a bid to recognize people who are “shaping contemporary culture.”
“At a time when the validity of awards ceremonies is in question, and the red-carpet spectacle of presentations is dominated by the awarding bodies and the presenters, we wanted to shift the focus back on those who we think to deserve to be rewarded,” Perfect said.
Kidman and stylist Katie Grande have worked on several legendary covers in the past. The actor and the director of Perfect magazine previously worked together for issues of LOVE magazine, for which Kidman appeared on one cover wearing a red swimsuit and a cowboy hat.
They also styled Kidman, among other actors, for the cover of Vanity Fair’s February issue, which generated controversy of its own earlier this year.
For the 28th annual Hollywood Issue, Kidman wore the then-trending Miu Miu miniskirt with a cropped version around her bust, leaving her midriff bare. Some social media users criticized Kidman for wearing the outfit, calling it too “raunchy” for someone her age and accusing the magazine of photo-shopping her body.
However, Kidman later revealed it was her idea to wear the fashion house’s pleated mini low-rise skirt all along.
The actor stated that although another costume had been chosen for her, she ‘begged’ Grand to allow her to wear the miniskirt instead in an interview with Baz Luhrmann for Vogue Australia‘s June issue.
“I was like, ‘No, no, I like this one! Am I allowed to wear that?’”’ she recalled from the day of the cover shoot.
Nicole continued: “Katie was like, ‘You’re willing to wear that?!’ And I said, ‘Wear it?! I’m begging you to wear it!’”
The full Nicole Kidman shoot and interview feature in Perfect Issue Three ‘Perfect Awards’ Autumn/Winter 2022, which goes on newsstands 1 September.
