Oscars Producer Shares His Thoughts on Will Smith’s Apology after Slapping Chris Rock: “He’s Being So Transparent About His Process”

Following his public apology to Chris Rock, Will Smith has gained the support of Oscars producer Will Packer.

Will Packer, the producer of the Oscars, is backing Will Smith after he issued a public apology to Chris Rock, his family, and the business. Will Smith apologized in writing to Chris Rock last month on his YouTube site after the actor slammed the comedian live on television. The outburst was initially a reaction to Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s alopecia.

In a recent chat with ET, via People, the producer of the 2022 Academy Awards discussed his opinions on Smith’s apology to Rock after their altercation.

Packer seemed to be siding with Smith as he told the outlet, “I love the fact that he’s being so transparent about his process.” Packer went on to add, “He is being very public and honest and open about his remorse. Clearly, he is going through his own personal rehabilitation”

Packer went on to showcase his trust in Smith, “I think that he’s got three decades in this business of being somebody that is the exact opposite of who he was in those few seconds, and so I’m pulling for him.” He then added, “I’m wishing you the best, brother.”

While Packer did not reveal if he had had any contact with either of the two parties after the infamous slap, he was stern about being on both their sides, “I would just say I love both of those brothers and I’m pulling for them.”  As per billboard, Packer thinks the Oscars this year was a sure-shot win as they wanted to make history by having all-female hosts as they appointed the talented Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, and Amy Schumer.
