Royal family in shock: Prince Charles is being investigated

Prince Charles has been on a charm offensive to win over the public before he takes the throne as the Queen takes on fewer duties.

The 73-year-old was clearly attempting to appear more approachable than ever, as evidenced by his appearance with wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in a hilarious episode of EastEnders and his cradling of his mischievous grandson Prince Louis at last month’s jubilee celebrations.

But this week, a British tabloid reported that Charles had received bags carrying $4.5 million in cash from a Qatari sheikh, destroying those attempts.

A spokesperson stated that Charles had quickly given the funds, which were donated between 2011 and 2015, to aides so they could deposit them in his charity foundation, but British citizens are demanding a probe.

According to royal expert Phil Dampier, who spoke exclusively to New Idea, the scandal is “the last thing” the Windsor family needs right now.

“Over the last 40 years or so Charles has accepted donations for his various charities. But why on earth did he think it right to take a large sum in cash? Surely a cheque made out to the charity would have been a far better option.”

Not just the general public is concerned.

“He’s stumbled from one crisis to another,” adds Phil. “It calls into question his judgment, and the Queen and Prince William must be deeply worried by it all.”

As per Nytimes, this most recent scandal could be the last straw for those who are already wary of Charles.

“Many will now question whether Charles is fit to be king. Some will be wondering if we should skip him and put his popular son William on the throne instead!” says Phil.
