The secret Whoopi Goldberg’s granddaughter Amara Skye regrets sharing

Amara Skye has revealed the advice she received from her grandmother, EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg, previous to her appearance on ABC’s Claim to Fame.

Skye, 32, was booted off the competition series on August 22 after her celebrity connection was correctly guessed by her co-stars, despite the fact that it had already been revealed to viewers at the start of the series.

On Claim to Fame, each player has a famous relative, but they must keep their family member a secret while trying to uncover the connections of the other contestants, all in the hopes of winning $100,000.

Skye spoke to the USA today after her elimination from the Kevin and Frankie Jonas-hosted show about her time on the show and what advice Goldberg had for her.

Skye, who has an eight-year-old daughter, previously revealed that her grandmother initially did not believe the show was legitimate after producers reached out to her on Instagram. Skye, on the other hand, says she was “all in” once she realized it was a real show.

When asked if The View host Goldberg had any words of wisdom for her before she left for the show, Skye told Newsweek: “Her advice was ‘Go be a strong b***h, and come back happy,’ and it’s OK to be myself!”

Despite the fact that Skye’s identity was revealed to viewers at the start of the series, there were several hints that would have given her away anyway, particularly references to Goldberg’s famous role in the Sister Act films.

Skye, whose mom is Goldberg’s daughter Alex Martin, agreed that the clues were very revealing, saying: “In the beginning, I was super confident about hiding my identity, but once people started getting a rhythm of the game, things started to get a little shaky for me and I’m sure for others. Those damn clues, man!”

“Once I had the cross clue I was like ‘F**k, this is too easy.’ But when the telephone challenge happened and I saw the nun’s head, I thought, ‘Yeah, I’m definitely screwed’,” she said. “Everyone knows Sister Act, especially [the second film], and who do you associate with these films? Whoopi Goldberg.”

For its first season, Claim to Fame had a stacked cast that included Keke Palmer’s sister L.C. and the now-eliminated Kai, Tiffany Haddish’s sister. Viewers have enjoyed watching the players interact and trying to guess their social media connections throughout the series.

Fans currently believe Pepper is Dean Martin’s granddaughter, Logan is country singer Jason Aldean’s cousin, and Lark is Cindy Crawford’s niece.

Despite the fact the cast is battling each other for the win, Skye says the group, who lived together while filming the series, all got along well. “I was shocked the most about the cast members. I watch a lot of competitive reality shows and I was expecting a house of clashing personalities,” she said.

“Don’t get me wrong we did have our moments, but we genuinely understood each other and the circumstances we were in, to the point where we can all be in a group chat today. I left this experience with 11 new great friends.”

While the other stars on the show are still competing to walk away as the winner, Skye has her bets on who will be crowned champion.

“You know I’m going for my girl Pepper!! She was the most real in the house, that’s my girl! I love you Pepper!” she said.
