Stephen Colbert delivered a brutal round of jokes Monday night aimed at Corey Lewandowski amid renewed rumors that he is romantically involved with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Speculation about the alleged relationship between the two Trump officials has circulated for months. Reports of their close connection date back to at least February 2025, when Lewandowski was reportedly spotted by the press at Noem’s home.
Since then, the gossip has continued to spread across Washington, becoming a topic of intense chatter in political circles. The rumors became so prominent that President Donald Trump was even asked about them during a press briefing aboard Air Force One on Monday, just before Colbert’s monologue aired.
Colbert referenced a Wall Street Journal report published last week that claimed Noem and Lewandowski have been traveling together on a 737 MAX airliner with a private cabin in the back. According to the report, the aircraft has been used repeatedly by the Department of Homeland Security.

Despite the growing speculation, DHS has denied the claims and dismissed the attention surrounding the situation. The department told both the Wall Street Journal and the Daily Beast that it does not “waste time with salacious, baseless gossip.”
The Journal also alleged that Noem and Lewandowski travelled together on other planes funded by DHS. One incident described in the report stated that during a plane change due to a maintenance issue, Noem’s blanket was accidentally left behind. Lewandowski reportedly reacted by firing the pilot, only to rehire them later after realizing there was no one else available to fly them back.
Adding fuel to the rumours, the New York Post reported on Friday that Lewandowski allegedly tried to purchase new clothing for Noem and wanted outfits that emphasised her “big t–s,” as he put it. Colbert pointed out that the story has drawn even more attention because, as he noted, “They’re both married with children.”
Still, the late-night host leaned into the scandal for laughs and offered Lewandowski an explicit warning during his segment. Referencing Noem’s controversial 2024 admission that she shot her own pet dog, Colbert delivered a punchline that quickly went viral. “Corey, a word of warning: Avoid doggie style. Especially near the gravel pit.”

Colbert also mocked the reported travel arrangements, joking about the irony of the plane allegedly used for their trips. According to him, the 737 MAX was officially intended for “high-profile deportations,” making the rumors even more politically explosive.
“That plane’s manufacturer? Boeing!” Colbert said, pronouncing the company like the world “boing.” While one FEMA official reportedly described the alleged affair as the “worst-kept secret in D.C.,” both Noem and Lewandowski have strongly denied the claims.
Trump, when questioned about the situation aboard Air Force One, also distanced himself from the rumors. “I don’t know about that,” Trump told reporters, “I mean, I haven’t heard that. I’ll find out about it, but I have not heard about it.”
