Taylor Swift is reportedly being careful about who makes the cut for her wedding guest list, and longtime friend Blake Lively may not be guaranteed an invitation.
According to a new report from Us Weekly, Swift is unsure whether to include the actress at her upcoming wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce. The concern, sources claim, is that Lively’s presence could bring unwanted headlines and turn the focus away from the couple’s big day.
A source told the outlet that inviting the Gossip Girl alum would “likely trigger a media frenzy,” something Swift is said to be eager to avoid while planning her ceremony.
The reported uncertainty comes as Swift’s friendship with Lively has faced renewed public scrutiny, largely due to Lively’s ongoing legal dispute with her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni. The situation reportedly escalated after Swift was drawn into the controversy when private text messages between her and Lively were unsealed in court documents.
Insiders claim the public exposure left Swift feeling deeply uncomfortable. The source alleged the pop star felt “exposed and kind of violated,” adding that the incident has created emotional distance between the two women, who were once considered inseparable.
“The friendship is not what it once was,” one insider reportedly said, claiming there is now a noticeable gap between them that has made rebuilding their former closeness difficult.
While Swift and Lively may still exchange occasional messages, the report suggests that meaningful conversations have become rare and that their bond is no longer as strong as it once appeared publicly.
Another insider claimed Swift has deliberately stepped back following the legal drama.
“When Taylor got pulled into this, it triggered boundary tightening,” the source said, suggesting that Swift may now be more cautious about who she allows into her inner circle. The insider also hinted that trust may have been affected, saying, “It will take time to see how things end up between them.”
Swift, 36, is reportedly set to marry Kelce, also 36, this summer at Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The couple got engaged in August 2025 after two years of dating.
Despite the excitement surrounding the upcoming wedding, sources suggest Swift is determined to keep the celebration as private and controlled as possible, which may explain why she is reportedly approaching the guest list with extra caution.
The Daily Mail previously reported that Lively had not reached out to Swift after the engagement announcement and was not expected to play any role in the wedding.
Swift and Lively became close friends in 2015 and were frequently spotted together for years, often joined by Lively’s husband, actor Ryan Reynolds. At one point, the two couples were seen as part of the same tight celebrity circle.
However, the report notes that Swift and Lively have not been photographed together in over a year, fueling speculation that their friendship has cooled significantly.
Meanwhile, Lively’s legal battle continues, with her trial involving Baldoni currently scheduled for May 18. As the case remains in the spotlight, it may continue to impact her relationships, including her once high-profile friendship with Swift.
