Nicole Kidman appeared to return a kind gesture from her former husband, Keith Urban, by including the country music star in a heartfelt Father’s Day tribute.
The post came one day after Urban publicly wished the Oscar-winning actress a happy birthday, marking a rare cordial exchange between the former couple following the end of their 19-year marriage.
Kidman, who celebrated her 59th birthday on June 20, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, June 21, to recognize the fathers who have played important roles in her life.
The Big Little Lies actress shared two black-and-white throwback photographs with her followers. One of the pictures showed Urban carrying the former couple’s two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, on his back when they were younger.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers,” Kidman wrote across the images.
Kidman and Urban, who married in 2006, share Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. Despite their divorce, the actress’s post appeared to acknowledge Urban’s continuing place in their family as the father of their daughters.
The tribute attracted attention because it followed Urban’s public birthday greeting for Kidman. On June 20, the four-time Grammy Award winner posted a message on his own Instagram Stories that read, “Happy Birthday Nicole Mary”.

The social media exchange was one of the former couple’s most visible public interactions since their separation. Neither Kidman nor Urban added further remarks about the meaning of the posts or the state of their relationship following the divorce.
Kidman also used Father’s Day to remember her late father, Dr. Antony Kidman. She shared another black-and-white photograph showing him holding her in his arms when she was a young child.
The image offered a personal glimpse into the actress’s childhood while allowing her to honour both her father and the father of her two youngest children in the same tribute. Dr. Kidman, a psychologist and biochemist, died in 2014.
Kidman and Urban publicly separated in September 2025 after 19 years of marriage. Their divorce was finalised on January 6, 2026, bringing their nearly two-decade marriage to an official end.
Since the separation, both stars have largely avoided discussing their private relationship in detail. However, their recent Instagram posts suggested that they remain willing to recognise important family occasions publicly.
Kidman’s tribute particularly resonated with admirers of the former couple, many of whom had followed their relationship throughout their marriage. While the post did not directly address their separation, it offered a respectful acknowledgement of Urban’s role as a father.
The exchange also showed the former couple maintaining a cordial public tone while continuing to focus on their family after the divorce.
