Felipe Staiti, guitarist and founding member of the iconic Argentine rock band Enanitos Verdes, has died at the age of 64 following health complications, according to reports from the Los Angeles Times and Argentine outlet Los Andes.
The band confirmed his death in an official statement shared on social media, honoring his legacy and contributions to Latin rock. Staiti reportedly died after being hospitalized in Mendoza, Argentina, where he had been receiving treatment for ongoing health issues.
Born in Mendoza in 1961, Staiti co-founded Enanitos Verdes in 1979 alongside Marciano Cantero and Daniel Piccolo. The group rose to prominence in the Latin rock scene, gaining international recognition in the 1990s with hits such as “Lamento Boliviano” and “La Muralla Verde.”
The band’s music remains influential, with “Lamento Boliviano” recently surpassing one billion streams on Spotify. Following the death of longtime frontman Cantero in 2022, Staiti stepped into a more prominent role as lead vocalist and continued to perform with the band.
His final years were marked by health challenges, including complications from a bacterial infection and celiac disease, which led to canceled performances across South America.
Despite these setbacks, Enanitos Verdes remained active, touring in 2025 alongside Hombres G, and had upcoming performances scheduled for 2026.
Staiti’s death marks another significant loss for Latin rock, with fans and fellow musicians remembering his decades-long impact on the genre.
